Can I piggyback onto this thread for a similar question? Arriving JFK T8 on Monday. In NY for 2 days. I need to get to Fulton Station amd from what I see, I take the AirTrain to Howard Beach and then the A to Fulton.
So if I want to start with a $10.48 (4 ride) preloaded card (saw it on the MTA website), is that same card good for the $5 AirTrain? Or do the vendors only sell the $5 preloaded cards? And is that the one you are saying is different and can’t be reloaded? If so, I should suck up the $1 and just buy a regular card and load some cash onto it?
From the posts above, I am thinking I exit to the “street” at Howard Beach and that’s where my $5 would come off. Then I use another $2.75 when I reenter to take the subway? I’d then reload it before I used it again as that would only leave me a few dollars.
Last question. Coming in on CX which I think is T8. If there is a $10.48 preload, is there a vendor that sells them there? Hudson News or ? Or should I just use a machine, get a $1 card, load a bunch of cash on it and make life a whole lot easier?
