Given the quality of machine translation of Chinese, I think TripAdvisor's policy is complete lunacy. I have never, for example, seen a "google translate" of Chinese that is even comprehensible let alone as good as a bilingual person. I'm glad you got your points. I too write a lot of trip advisor reviews because I read a lot of them and feel that contributing is part of the unwritten compact. It's sad they made it so hard for you.
