2MM Gift

Thanks all for the postings.

I got my 2MM email at the end of last year. Given all the junk emails I get, I missed it. My fault.

Someplace along the way a Pilot gave me his card and on the back I think he thanked me. Not sure if this timed to my 2MM flight or if the Pilot was just being nice. I think I had an upgrade on that flight.

As for the gifts, well a nice gesture. So thx UA.

On the other hand, given that most 2MM ers are going to be older, not sure who the intended demographic is. So, maybe chosen by someone in marketing around 25 yo without much of a clue as to what a 2MMer would like (Beyond typical in corporate America, but in Asia or even in Europe, Africa, and So Am, they sometimes get it right).
.
I think we are mostly older, so a man purse or roller luggage of small size and so so reviews (good quality but poor size) does not make any sense for most of us.

The handbag might be quite nice for the ladies.

I have a nice watch that I rarely wear. But nice thought. However, I think many 2MMers would own a fancier watch if they wear a watch.

Apple TV gets some good and some bad reviews. I already have the Amazon equivalent. So no need. But nice idea.

The Amazon Echo and Fire Tablet combo are a nice thought. So my likely default even though I do not want Amazon spying on me 24/7 and I have a fancier tablet already.

Given “our demographic”, what would we like?

Well a very brief handwritten from Gordon Bethune in the day would have been treasured. A brief note from Oscar would be great too. It would show that maybe someone actually cares, or maybe not.

I think we would have liked a gift certificate or UA $$ voucher to spend as we like or even maybe a pair of unrestricted upgrades (simply as long as any bus/first seats are available). These avoid the silliness of the gifts proposed and shipping issues.

What would we really like?

Multiple times recently, I would have liked to have gone though jetways that were not over 90 degrees hot, because someone was too cheap or forgot to turn the AC on. Even a gate agent should have corrected that. Being covered in sweat before many hours of flights is simply wrong on so many levels. But hey, nobody cares?

When there was in reality no plane to fly us out, tell us in advance. But I guess it’s ok to keep folks waiting... Same when you arrive and guess what - no gate. It isn’t rocket science and the arrival time should be known well in advance.

What ever happened to having flight crews on standby at the hub airports? Maybe cost cutting. LOL.

But to be honest DL and AA are not always great either. I have had multiple flights on DL when they did not even have full crews available until delayed boarding began. On AA, I have had multiple issues with their boarding zones even using an AA credit card. However, each of the gate agents were nice enough to let me on, I think in Boarding Group 5. So much for (lack of status) on AA with non priority CC boarding.

I do thank UA for the free drink and maybe a burger that my upper level status gets me when I do not get upgraded.

I do thank UA for the last minute changes to earlier or later flights via the phone line (unfortunately requiring an old line CO agent most of the time) or service desk agent in Houston. What ever happened to live agent (non) service at O’Hare or LAX?

The new Polaris seats are great !!

Again, I think the intention of the gift was nice, but who really thought it through?
