I just tried to do this this morning. Phone agent for a lowly gold wouldn’t do it, but maybe could have HUCA. Check in agent was persistent about needing to pay. Club agent was a lot more helpful and offered to do it but by that time there were only middle seats here and there left. I’m sure gate agent would have done it but by the time they show up on a full flight it’s probably too late.
