I don't know about you, but I've really just about had it with of all of these d@amn taxes. And quite frankly, I think it's just about time for a tax payer revolt!

In fact, it's gotten to the point that every time someone says that they want to do a MR to England, I cringe. (In fact, I did so this week when TravelManKen mentioned that he might want to go).

This last week, I have been seriously shopping for a decent jump across the pond in July. As you may know if you've checked, the cheapest consolidator fares are blacked out for this time period... and/or zeroes are showing across the board for late July and August returns. In short, the published fares a pretty steep.

Well, it just so happened that I stumbled accross a $467 base fare JFK-MAN on VS... and at first, about fell over on the floor when I found both the fare and availability on the days I wanted. I was a gleeful, happy camper. Anyway, I then priced my precious little find of $467 only to find that there's ONE HUNDRED SIXTY-ONE dollars and NINETY-EIGHT CENTS in taxes ($161.98) added to this puppy!

Well, I've never, ever before noticed taxes this high. Yes, I knew that NYC-LON RT was an outrageous $119.63. But this NYC-MAN trip is just obscene! So I thought mebbe there was some mistake, so I decided to price British Aiways:

There was no mistake. Again, the taxes for this trip are $161.98!

Let's put this in perspective. For a family of four... the taxes alone on a trip to MANCHESTER are $647.92!

Folks that's six-hundred fouty-seven USD and ninety-two cents in taxes alone! How is it that people can afford to travel anymore?

I don't know how you feel, but I think it's time that something was done about this.

Are there any thoughts, suggestions... is there anything that can be done? Or are you just oblivious to the whole affair?

Needless to say, I won't be doing MR's or DO's in MANCHESTER anytime soon!
