OP was not asking for the flight to be delayed, and as I said above, DL regularly helps pax make tight connections. The GA is perfectly capable of checking on the status of connecting pax and seeing that they have a high likelihood of being onboard before departure. My guess is that they wanted to clear the standby list, either for nonrev friends or for other pax who were standing there pressuring them. The GA has had the option of being giving the connecting pax just an extra few minutes without delaying the flight at all.


OP: One thing I've done when running off the plane is to try to get the GA's attention at my arriving gate and ask them to please call my connecting flight GA and let them know I am running. If I can get their attention without waiting in line this can help.
