It sounds like the weight and balance paperwork and with the problem with the cargo I am almost sure this is what it was.
Was the overhead locker above 20 AB, for some reason the small locker is a problem there, are you saying that the locker was left open when the crew completed their checks or it popped open afterwards, I am sure the SCCM logged it, we do not ignore defects like that?
