Especially if you have some choice about where to stay on business trips, it should be pretty easy to maintain the new combined MR/SPG 50 night elite level (sometimes called new Plat here), especially if you get a credit card that gives you 15 nights credit every year.

Note that Hilton Gold gives free breakfast (and some chance of an upgrade and/or late checkout) but lounge access isn't guaranteed. If you get HH Gold automatically, there's no real benefit to pushing stays to Hilton unless you can reach Diamond.

Depending on where you travel, going for the Hyatt level that gives four lounge upgrades/passes per year, IIRC goood for stays of up to seven days) could work as an additional program for you.

Don't forget that your leisure stays can be chosen to generate additional night credits for hotel status, especially as Starriott is following the SPG rule on this going forward, namely that award stays of all types count, which is also what Hyatt recently adopted around the start of the year (applied retroactively).
