Post-Aug. 1 Mileage Redemption Levels Already Being Applied?

I just went on-line to book a first class award ticket from the U.S. to Europe for travel next spring. There was availability, but instead of the 100,000 miles I expected it to cost, the program stated that it is a 140,000 mile award.

I was under the impression that awards booked before August 1st, even though travel would occur after that date, were issued based on the current mileage requirements.

Did I get that wrong, or is this a programming glitch?
