personally i would absolutely pay extra $100 each way for pe on 9 hr flt - extra miles, food, faster check in etc is enough to justify that.. as mentioned the only possible exception is wide open coach but you wont know that until departure..
on a somewhat longer lax-svo i track the difference is about $600 rt but svo-bkk is 200 - i'd confirm the latter upfront but perhaps play checkin upsell roulette with former (if forced to take it to begin with)...
