I didn’t have a clue where to put this question... We are on a trip to the Netherlands, and got today a SMS from Finnair asking us to volunteer as the flight is overbooked. 300€/person x 4 in the family = 1200€. Rebooked to KL that leaves 2 hours later.

I have a Value ticket and Plat, wife is Gold. I am on Value ticket, rest of family on light. I only after accepting the offer and gettig the new ticket to KL realized that we can only check in one bag.

If KL gives us trouble for wanting to check in two bags, would Finnair reimburse the fee? Or would KL know our added luggage benefit via status? Or was I simply stupid? The 2nd bag is a trolley so we can in worst case take it as cabin baggage, but with 2 kids the free hands are valuable.
