BA to me makes flying really enjoyable.
Yes there are a million things one can complain about, no parmesan cheese in the lounge, no more pretzels in economy, the IFE screen was dirty etc etc. But BA to me is like an old mate. They'll annoy you, probably infuriate you at times but you love them through all of that too.
The Exec Club has always been excellent, I genuinely feel valued when flying as BA gold and to be honest my experience at T5 is 99% of the time nothing short of seamless. Booking flights have become easier than ever, customer service is on the whole excellent and sometimes one can lose a little perspective on the 'enhancements' as ultimately they bring fares down. I can now fly to NYC for about £300 return, chopping a bit off using Avios. That's outstanding value.
BA takes actual pride in what they do. Unlike a lot of the North American carriers, I always find they still try and make a flying experience, an actual experience rather than just getting you from A to B. How many times do you walk up to the check in lady/man and they're smiling from when you make your way up there to wishing you a great flight. I find I'll regularly get crew that seem just as excited as I am to be on a flight to my holiday destination and that's really unique- it doesn't go unnoticed and encapsulates the very professional standards they adhere to. BA staff just get it right for me.And you can't beat that feeling after a long trip abroad of hearing a welcoming British accent at the flight door- it feels like you're coming home.
Right- back to it, where's my amuse bouche and why haven't I been personally greeted as a gold member yet
