I have an upcoming business trip that will require me to make a round the world routing. Our travel agent here at work currently has recognized it will be a round the world routing but plans on issuing 3 separate tickets (Qatar, Cathay and Air Canada).

I would like to have it all booked with OW carriers to maximize my tier points and also to "sell" it to our travel agent as hopefully being a cheaper option than what they are currently quoting (which is about CHF 8400 in business).

The basics of the routing are:

GVA-HAN (currently booked as via DOH on QR which is fine)
HAN-SYD (currently booked as via HKG on CX, also fine)
SYD-YYC (currently booked via YVR on AC which is the problem)
YYC-YTO (currently on AC, also a problem)
YTO-GVA (currently on AC, also a problem)

I've seen some of the more desirable routings getting me from SYD-YYC on OW carriers are:
Via SFO on QF then WS - the BA Avios flight calculator indicates I get neither tier points nor Avios for the WestJet segment from SFO-YYC
Via SFO and SEA on QF then AS for the last two segments - I believe this would get me Avios only for the Alaskan Airlines segments
Via NRT and YVR on JL then WS - flight routing here is 3.5 hours longer but I would get 280 tier points for the two long haul Japan Airlines flights, then nothing on the WestJet flight

Any recommendations on how I should play this with our travel agent? To be honest I am not even sure if they are eligible to purchase the OW RTW ticket for us. In any event, all suggestions on how I can maximize the benefit of this for my OW tier point balance gratefully received.
A four continent (Europe, Asia, Australia/Pacific, North America) business class RTW on OW is 9700 CHF base fare, plus taxes and carrier-imposed fees. So I don't think it's going to be a cheaper option. If you get yourself to OSL to start, it drops the base fare to 7169 CHF.

You can route SYD-DFW-YYC on QF and AA (or QF and a QF code for the AA metal).

For YYC-YTO, you could route on AA YYC-DFW-YTO but you'd have to overnight in DFW.

For YTO-GVA, you can route on BA via LHR. Although it'd be a nicer flight to route on AA YTO-LAX-LHR and then BA LHR-GVA. You'd get the much better AA J seats on a longer LAX-LHR flight.
