Historically the pilot or CC would come on before the video and say "it's very important please give it your full attention". On most flights this year the video seems to have just been started, as if it's an embarrassment and they actively don't want to draw attention to it.
I had the opposite experience on a recent domestic trip. One CC member delivered a very effusive introduction that went along the lines of “Well, ladies and gentleman, here at British Airways we are immensely proud to have teamed up with Comic Relief and Flying Start to develop a brand new, cutting edge video demonstrating the safety features of this Airbus A320....” followed by the more familiar request to take out personal headphones and give it your full attention.
It was quite the set up. The phrase “over promise-under deliver” came to mind
