Everything went as described (except there was not an error message); once my IHG number went in, it again instantly showed the points to be earned. Hopefully I won't have a hassle like OP did with not being credited points even when they show up on the web site's My Stays page.
I've made several IC Virtuoso bookings and clients have received stay credits and points as usual.
