Historically the pilot or CC would come on before the video and say "it's very important please give it your full attention". On most flights this year the video seems to have just been started, as if it's an embarrassment and they actively don't want to draw attention to it.
Nope. On the contrary on all my recent flights the usual "we're now going to show a short safety video" sort of speech has gone out before the video. Not sure why you jump to the conclusion that it's an embarrassment and they'd not want to draw attention to the video... bizarre.
