Yes, it's a valid routing, assuming it comes up in search results when you search from ORD to HKG. Sadly, that's about all you can say about UA's award routing rules these days. (Well, certain things are definitely invalid, but North America to South Asia via Europe is not one of them).
I see a flight in F on exactly that route for a departure tomorrow. It prices as a North America - South Asia award -- 90K in J and 140K in F.
If it doesn't come up on a search from origin to destination -- i.e., if you have to force it via multi-city search -- it'll price as two awards.
