Unfortunately I think you're out of luck Duke787. Currently VA's flights to NZ use the Air NZ lounge, however not sure whether they'd acknowledge Delta Gold - you could always try.
OTOH there is the Skyteam lounge at Sydney, but as Air NZ aren't a Skyteam member, you'll probably get knocked back.
Do you have an AMEX card that qualifies? The AMEX Lounge (near Gate 24) may be your best bet.
