If you're interested in doing that, I would recommend either a) bringing a tablet, which could be backed up before leaving, wiped, and then restored upon arrival as easily as a smartphone, or b) bringing a Chromebook or other netbook, but ensuring that any files you've worked on while using the laptop are backed up to Google Drive or whichever cloud-based solution you use on the netbook. Either a) or b) would cover all of my needs when traveling overseas for non-work-related purposes.
