A previous company I was at required boarding passes to be submitted before flight expenses would be reimbursed. The reason was some employees abused the system by booking a fully refundable fare to a conference ( for example), expensing it and being reimbursed for it, and then either refunding the ticket and not going and keeping the money, or refunding the ticket and buying a cheap ticket and pocketing the difference. So after that they wanted to see a full receipt and boarding passes for all legs with ticket numbers matching before any expenses would be paid.
