UKtravelbear - thank you, this had not even crossed my mind! Well then, as our bags are short checked - what would happen if we DO miss the Alaska flight to PDX - We are actually flying on to Vegas the following day so I wonder if BA might re-route us there directly? Obviously I'm not going to risk finding out the hard way but it would be interesting to know.
