Conditions of Carriage 3c4 and delayed connection

Folks

How does 3c4 work with a late incoming connection on a different PNR, with an hour delay caused by a broken down tug, thus missing a BA connecting flight? Scheduled MCT between flights was in bounds.

One part tells me “tough” and that is indeed the BA response, but how does this work with 3c4, or is there a specific written exception regarding this or similar scenarios I’ve not found?

Pax in question has been on the phone to BA before scheduled departure time explaining the situation. Connection is at JFK.

“3c4) If you need to change any aspect of your transportation because of events beyond your control, you must contact us as soon as possible. We will use reasonable efforts to transport you to your next stopover or final destination, without re-calculating the fare.”
