Can't change seats/get digital boarding passed on my KLM booking

Hello,

I have a 2 leg itinerary soon with flight being operated by KLM and Delta but tickets being bought from KLM. I made the reservation via the mobile APP (the booking code was generated then) but the payment was finalized via phone and the ticket was issued by the phone agent.

For some reason, I could not change the seats on this reservation. I could not change it like I usually can (I booked this itinerary several times before), as soon as I make the booking, and now that I've checked in, I could not change them on the Delta operated flight, only the KLM one.

Furthermore, despite checking in from the app, like I usually do on all my flights I buy from KLM, I can't get my boarding passes for the flight, I need to get them from the airport.

Like all of us here, I like the convenience to select my seats and also have the boarding pass on my phone, so my questions are:
- why can't I select seats for this flight like I normally can?
- why can't I get my digital boarding passes despite checking in like I normally do?
- what to do in the future to avoid such bookings where things like changing seats and getting digital BPs are not possible?

Just to emphasize, I've taken these flights before (same flight codes), I had no issues then, the only difference was that the payment was finalized in the app, now it was finalized by the phone agent.
