I did not go to Isla de Lobos nor to the top of Faro de Punta del Este primarily because I visited during the off-season in May, which is late autumn there; but one can easily approach the lighthouse and take plenty of photographs of its exterior.
I would surmise that you may have similar results visiting during late autumn; but that may depend on exactly when during autumn you visit...
