When I rent I frequently use Nu-Car, which is across the street from the main garage but technically off-airport. If I'm staying at Orleans I often use the Budget on W. Tropicana that's right across the street, and there's an Enterprise a few blocks west. There's a Dollar on Swenson very close to the airport that I'm using on an upcoming trip. However they are only open 9-5 and don't have a night drop, so I'll have to drop the car off at TI (they said there's no drop fee to leave it there).

However, I tend to do a lot of stuff in Vegas that's not close to my hotel. I have a (now-dwindling) roster of friends that I like to see. If I'm staying on the strip I like to go downtown to gamble. I like to go to the outlet mall every day (has to do with Manufactured Spending) and there are restaurants here and there I like.

I have an upcoming trip where I'm staying downtown and I'll Uber there from the airport and back, but I'll rent a car for one day. I found a rate with Budget that's about $40 all-in with an AARP discount.

I agree that parking fees make it less desirable to have a car, but PH is the main place I stay on the strip and they have free self-parking, and I got the MGM credit card so I have free parking at MGM now too
