I created this thread a couple of years and thought I follow up. My family of 5 did end up staying at the Holiday Inn Aruba resort. The resort is located within the major high rise hotel zone. It is a small step below most other resorts in this zone but we found it perfectly acceptable and I would recommend staying there with a family given that aren't many other choices within IHG. I can't say that we liked Aruba very much. It felt like a vacation machine with zero personality. I am not sure that we met a single native. People were either tourists, Dutch or Latin American, or so it seemed...
