Many large countries such as Germany I understand does not allow products with ANY level of DEET be sold.

Get that stuff on a plastic watch face or watch strap, or nail polish, or many synthetics etc and it MELTS it. Try it and see. Therefore smearing it all over your body is not necessarily a great policy.
