Do you need both game units, both Kindles, and Bose headphones easily accessible until you're at the airport/train/bus station? Have you considered putting some of the gadgets into a small packing cube and stowing in the main backpack, close to your back, to offset some of the weight while walking? You could take it out before boarding/sitting and put it back for longer treks.
I don't need the stuff in the daypack until I get on the plane. My original plan was to have the daypack packed inside the backpack, but unfortunately I didn't have any room for it. I didn't try to piecemeal my stuff in though, that might have worked. Unfortunately, my Fairview doesn't have attachment points for a daylight pack. I'm not sure how I'd feel with all my gadgets that far away and behind me though.
I think I'm still going to try out these shoulder bags, but also see if I can piecemeal my gear in the main pack until I'm ready to board the plane.
