The wording on AA's website for AY earning is a bit confusing. On the one hand it says:
Earn and redeem AAdvantageŽ miles for travel on Finnair within Europe, and between Europe and:
And on the other hand:
To earn AAdvantageŽ miles when you fly on Finnair marketed and operated flights as well as Finnair codeshare flights operated by
oneworldŽ carriers and affiliates:
- Buy an eligible published fare ticket in an eligible booking code
- Fly an eligible route
Specific flights, routes or cities that are excluded from earning miles or award travel are listed as exceptions if applicable.
With the listed exception:
Exceptions
Flights to and from Cuba are currently ineligible for Elite Qualifying Credits or award mileage accrual or redemption.
So from the first statement it looks like it would not earn, but from the second that it would, since Canada is not listed as an exception. It seems the first statement is a erroneous view of the routes AY flies rather than a real desire by AA to limit the earning.
Does anyone have experience of flights from Canada coded as AY?
