Looks like the way you do it to setup an account for "Cello YourLastName". Of course, these are world-class cellists buying int'l F tickets for million-dollar instruments, so of course AA is going to say "Welcome Aboard!" and process the boarding cards normally so that Cello YourLastName gets treated just as well as the cellist - earning miles and elite status along the way. (I get the sense that very few people in the world do this, and their stories have spread like a good urban legend.)

If you or I decide to take "CheapGuitar YourLastName" on a mileage run hoping to hit a juicy promo twice in half the time, we'd probably get the schpiel about inanimate objects - and CheapGuitar would get tossed into the belly of the plane.
My initial post was more than just "idle curiosity"--I was wondering if this was a quicker way to get mileage for promos or elite status...from some of ther answers in this thread it looks like "cello" miles will not help.
