I always assumed the answer would be NO as some hotels in the past insisted that the breakfast has to be eaten in the breakfast area and I would have to pay extra for any breakfast brought to the room.

However I am currently staying at a Sofitel in Europe where they are just charging EUR 5 to bring the breakfast to the room (and we can order any combination of items, there seems to be no limits!).

This is great (happy to pay EUR 5) and I wonder if this is possible in general or just in Sofitels/ in 5-Star hotels or whatever? If yes, I would book room rates with breakfast more often.
