I know the bandwidth - if offered - is OKish for the football since BA's wifi is actually quite a bit faster than my home bandwidth (living as I do somewhat in the sticks), just don't expect too much fine detail. But I agree that the chance of having wifi on the aircraft is not high and then you'll have to find a provider that will work over both BA's wifi and potentially a VPN provider too. Standard iplayer provision on the main broadcasters will possibly not work since this is highly sought after digital property. But check here perhaps 2 days before the flight, we may well then know the aircraft registration and whether it has wifi or not.
This may sound desperate stuff, but if BA have moved your flight timings since the initial booking, you have the ability to switch to another service.
