A few weeks ago, I had the opportunity to stay at both the Marriott Hangzhou Qianjiang and the JW Hangzhou. Both were excellent, and I'd be hard pressed to choose one over the other. With the metro so close to both properties, getting to/fro almost anywhere in the city is a simple task. As a Platinum, I was assigned a large river view suite at the Marriott, and an Executive Level room at the JW. I used points/certs for both stays. I would give a slight edge to the JW Executive Lounge, in terms of food and staff, especially Aurous, who were really helpful and accommodating. The JW's EL chef was newly installed, and was trying out different recipes that were both tasty and quite filling.
As for West Lake, it was a very pleasant outing, and an easy ~30 minute walk from the JW.

Curious, how did you find the air quality? I heard pollution is rampant in China nowadays. Was it noticeable? What about crowds during week days at tourist attractions? Was it shoulder to shoulder traffic?
