I stayed here last night, the first time I've stayed during Sunday-Thursday when M Club had evening fayre.

The spread was: pork sausage, spare ribs, sliced cheese (cheddar, maybe an asiago, and what looked like Derby cheese), hummus, flatbread, and slices of salami. Food was out by 5 p.m. and gone by 7 p.m. No dessert or sweets were put out, at least not before 7:45 p.m. Around 8 p.m., the M Club attendant put out a tray of thin-sliced yellow cake with icing. There were 9 slices of cake. That was the entire dessert service. By this time, all of the bottled water and most of the soda pop cans were gone. None were replenished. Full bar, but it wasn't complimentary. M Club attendant couldn't make a martini so the person next to me went to the bar in the lobby.

Pretty disappointing. Especially the lack of a salad or substantive vegetarian option. I ended up ordering off the restaurant menu using the $10 welcome amenity coupon.

Same service inconsistencies as before, namely it took six hours to get a response to a Marriott application chat request. The telephone's at your service button just rings with nobody answering. My room had no facecloths and no soap. Hotel's only answer is, as always, to throw points at you to go away.

I'm really surprised by the wear and tear in the rooms, which were renovated last fall and over the winter. Carpet fraying, heavy stains on shower glass doors, scratches and water marks on shower flooring, wallpaper stained, and moulding cracked. It seems like the materials either aren't durable or the renovation was done on the cheap.

I'll probably try the newly renovated Southfield Marriott in the future.
