Personal experience: as a child, I was allergic to poultry and seafood. I grew out of it, though I still react to caviar. Whenever I eat soft nuts (hazelnuts, walnuts etc) I get a tingle in my throat but I have never had any other sort of reaction. I mentioned this to a friend’s father who is a specialist within allergies. He asked if I had any pollen allergies, and said it is common to get this if you do. This does not mean I’m allergic to any kind of nuts, apparently. I’m not a medical professional, just relaying what he said. I’m well aware of the dangers to those with severe allergies and very happy to have outgrown mine.
