I've no idea whether 'G' has any peculiar characteristics but I was always under the impression that it was a "middle of the pack" coach fare - not Y, B or H but probably not far behind them and well ahead of Q or O.
A random selection of trips (TPA-LGA, ORD-LAX, DFW-SEA) all have G class available..... for example -

The follow on question is "is that the real pecking order of fares? Why does Q sometimes appear before N <as it does here> and sometimes after?"
