I never use my driver's license as ID when traveling because I don't want random TSA employees, etc. to see my home address when it's obvious I'm leaving town. For a taxi/Uber,/etc. the driver would see my building address (unless I leave directly from work) but not the unit number. Like the OP, I avoid discussing current/future travel plans around anyone without a need to know.
