Randy_P Thanks for looking that up for me - but there's no way SAS will give me any kind of useful description -ie. "yes, our vegetarian option sucks, best to stick to a fresh fruit platter and bring some sandwiches, but mind that the fruit will be unripe and nearly frozen".
I'd love to try Swedish fish delicacies on board instead of the unidentifiable white cardboard I usually get (I'm rather partial to herring), but on a long haul flight the risk of being given a breakfast with lots of pig slices is just too much. It seems meat breakfasts are normal from what I could see on www.airlinemeals.net

And Greg-Leg, you're quite right! Pity further any gluten intolerant vegetarians. (except, that by the way you've itlicised 'have' it gives the impression that you think vegetarianism is a life-style 'option', hope I'm wrong - and, obviously, I don't regard myself as a vegetarian)

Most airlines have a gluten-free diet now, care to share your experiences with them?
