Subway ride is fine. We tend to go to Chinatown and Lower East Side during a trip via subway. Other hotel suggestions near a subway line. I did take the Marriott Marquis off my list because of the hotel size and zoo in the concierge lounge. I have stayed previously at Renaissance Times square and that was okay.
