My annual fee was coming up and I called the retention line and received an offer for 7,000 points after spending $500.00 in the first month. I seldom use this card so I was surprised the spending minimum was so low. Accepted the offer and paid the fee.
One more data point - annual fee just posted Monday, called and received an offer for 7,000 points after spending $500 in next month. Accepted the offer. Put only about $1k spend on the card over the last year, and the year before this I had already received 10,000 SPG points retention credit for keeping the card open.
