Mingling in the lobby is fine and dandy but why such high rates is beyond me and points redemption are above what's charged at the Intercontinental (70K vs. 60K)??? Did you see the minimal decor (read cheap)? Industrial rails and hinges for doors and painted cement ceiling! (see photos in my above album). Industrial design might be of interest to some but I am indifferent to such.
We are not thrifty and I really enjoy my cup of instant coffee in the morning even when I am at home. As I said, we pay our way, and occasionally splurge, but there has to be a value and enjoyment and not just spend for the sake of spending just to mingle with total strangers. IMO, this merger doesn’t seem to be working out as well for IHG loyalists as hoped.
If the need arises to stay there again, we will request what we need ahead of time.
