I’m also a tad suspicious that there are no airports along the north east coast of Libya that could serve as a 777 landing strip. BEN has two 11,700 feet runways, but is deep in the dark. I’m not suggesting a sightseeing tour, but is it really significantly less convenient than TIP, which apparently does get a light circle?

Is there something special about the airports chosen to be diversion stations?
In addition, I've seen 777s at TSE in Kazakhstan, but that's dark. I'd be curious who pulled this together, I think there are a number of missing airports.
