Just do what I do an ensure you aren’t on the last YUL YYZ of the day. I booked the 1:15 over the 3:45 connection but as a J pax even on points I am hopeful AC won’t screw me too much if I don’t make it.
I wrote about this in another thread. If one searches ZRH-YYZ, often nothing shows up via YUL on LX, especially if there arent any YUL-YYZ flights available. Of course a boatload of AC/LH TATL metal shows up with hundreds of $ going to AC in scamcharges.
Search ZRH-YTZ, and amazing how fast you can see LX TATL via YUL.
