I have options on our upcoming Switzerland trip this summer as far as which airline I use my Aeroplan miles to get us home from ZRH. (flight to ZRH booked on LX already). We don't travel near as much as many of you here, so we really enjoy the lounge experience, as well as the business class lay flats.
Choices are:
1. Swiss Air LX8 to ORD, with a 4 hr layover in Chicago and then AC514 to YYZ on an Embraer 190 . All seats business class
2. Turkish Air ZRH-IST in an A321, with a 2.40 hr layover in IST and then IST-YYZ on Turkish Air TK17 which is a 777. All seats business class
Questions:
- ZRH Lounge: Will we be in the same lounge at ZRH with either option anyways? (The Swiss air lounge), since I don't think Turkish has a lounge, and the Swiss lounge is the *A offering, is this correct?
- Choice #1 - Chicago layover is 4 hours - what lounge will we have access to there?
- Choice #2 - IST lounge - I hear nothing but good things about the Turkish lounge there. 2.40 layout is about perfect too - not too long, but long enough to enjoy the lounge.
- LX vs TK Business Class layflats. Both are 777-300 - any notable differences? We've flown LX layflats and they were fine. Service was very good. Never flown TK.
I actually have option 1 booked today, but option 2 exists, so there would be a change fee. Extra charges are low for either option.
Thoughts and comments are appreciated.
