BA lounge only opens in the afternoon for BA284/BA286, but the CX lounge is open all day and is a really nice place!
I assumed with the flight being just marketed and not both "marketed and operated by a one world airline" that I wouldn't be able to make use of the privileges which come with status. From what your saying it may be worth trying to go in the CX lounge if its as good as most of their lounges are.
