My recent experience in Asian airports:
TPE, HKG - no pat downs
Mainland China (XIY, KWL,PVG,PEK) - almost every passenger received invasive pat downs. Some screeners put their hands inside people's clothes. I now have a greater appreciation for the TSA pat downs after my China experience.
