You'd still make the connection.

Of course it is up to you to decide what tolerance you have for risk, but what if the flight is delayed 3 hours or canceled? There are plenty of "what ifs" to play, but the schedule as published has plenty of time for things to work correctly, even with a few hiccups along the way.

Once there is a schedule change they should be able to override that, up to reissuing it as separate tickets to complete the journey. It is a matter of knowing what is possible and how much you're willing to push them, but it can be done. Maybe not initially as a new booking, but things can be flexible once changes come into play. It takes a cooperative agent, but there are lots of things that "can't be done" that really can.

Without dates it is hard to provide additional options that might save more cash. And some city pairs are definitely more expensive than others. I'm not sure the triple connection is worth a couple hundred dollars, but everyone has different budgets and tolerance there.
