By Boston standards, the Nine-Zero area could be considered a little seedy. If you walk down past the edge of the Commons, there are quite a few homeless people/pan-handlers, as well the area around the old Filene's has similar. That's pretty much to be expected though around any downtown/tourist spot in major cities. It's just that in Boston, it's exceptionally rare.
