If you have connecting flights, why would you need travel insurance? Being booked on one ticket means the airline will accommodate you to complete your travel, even if certain flights are delayed or cancelled.

If you are looking for travel insurance to protect you across separate tickets, I think you'll find that most standard policies in the UK cover you only to about £300 or so, and there are typically specific clauses that exclude many situations encountered in these homemade itineraries.
