A little OT but I just my first long haul B class ticket on United (same as BA, one notch down from full fare Y). Eye wateringly expensive but genuine work reasons that dictate I must be on that flight and there is a decent chance the return date might need to move so flexibility needed.

No status so they still want another $300 for the extra legroom seats! However lots of miles from the revenue based program.
